Circulatory Model of Urban Group

Project Summary

The suggested project with title "SPEED-O: Circulatory Model of Urban Group" is a proposal for the collaboration of 3 carriers, the Organization of Urban Transportation of Thessaloniki (O.A.S.TH.), the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering (HMMY) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Link Technologies LLC (LINK). The scientific and technological area of the project is related to the following: the  growth and exploitation of smart systems that offer information to the users about road traffic guidance, optimized use of road networks, better service, better security and improvement of road network and highway efficiency with the introduction of information systems, applications and internet services. One of the immediate goals of this project is to resolve specific scientific and technological issues towards the achievement of specific results and the optimization of products, processes,

The goal of this project is the implementation of an easy to use highly complex real-time traffic model that can be adjusted to similar problems in other cities. The primary data that the model will get as input will be real and non real time. This data will be received by the Telematics systems, minimizing the need for information reception from the common measurement systems (inductive road bronchuses systems) which are expensive and have high maintenance costs. The result of this proposal will be a dynamic geographical display of road traffic in real time.

The suggested project can become a valuable tool in traffic, scientific and commercial level for the three partners. OASTH can use the results of this project for the optimization of the current and future transportation design of the Organization, and based on the optimized service and briefing of commuters also have a reduction of the functional expenses and on top have environmental benefits. The participation of the academic partner (HMMY) will support the research activity of the department as it will be the first academic institution with access to real traffic data of OASTH vehicles which are ideal for the design and implementation of an integrated urban traffic model. The academic partner can use appropriate scientific methods to extend the knowledge field on this subject aiming to publish its research results. LINK company, which is a pioneer in Telematics and has a long experience in related project will have the ability to collaborate with the academic partner aiming to exchange technological "know-how", to convert a research model to a real and exploitable tool from OASTH, and to
